Call for Individual Papers (Regular Panels)
A single study to be presented in a panel.
A core design principle of the Conference is its community-led structure. Regular Panels are organised around six Community-led tracks, coordinated by the respective MethodsNET Communities, alongside an open track welcoming proposals that do not align clearly with a specific Community. Within the Community-led tracks, Regular Panels and other session formats bring together participants who develop or use similar methods, enabling exchange across disciplinary boundaries among scholars working on different substantive topics but facing comparable methodological questions.
All methodological, theoretical, and empirical approaches are welcome across the social, behavioral, and human sciences.
Objectives of the Community-Led Tracks
The Conference invites participants to engage with, refine, and advance methodological work. Panels organised within the Community-led tracks aim to:
- Support early- and mid-stage work
By offering feedback at the planning stage of projects, PhDs, or paper submissions. - Enhance ongoing empirical work
By welcoming contributions reflecting active methodological development during data collection, analysis, or reporting. - Stimulate methodological reflection and innovation
Including contributions addressing methods, methodological frameworks, epistemological perspectives, tools, or other research outputs.
Types of Submissions and Track Selection
Two main types of Papers are expected:
- Method-focused papers
- Empirical papers that apply and critically reflect on a specific method or set of methods.
We welcome both individual paper proposals and panel proposals with multiple papers.
When submitting an abstract or panel proposal, authors will be asked to self-select one of the six Community-led tracks that best matches the methodological focus of their contribution. This self-selection ensures that submissions are reviewed and discussed within a relevant methodological community. Authors whose proposals do not clearly align with a specific Community are invited to submit to the open track.
Community-Led Tracks (Indicative Topics)
The topic lists are indicative rather than exhaustive. All tracks welcome proposals engaging with emerging debates and innovations that continue to (re)shape research methods. Call for Panels with Papers (Regular Panels)
Multiple related papers submitted to be presented together.
All Papers must be submitted individually for review. Please include the Paper Titles in the Panel abstract and the Panel Title in the Paper abstract.
If you are already part of a group of scholars who use a specific methodological approach, you are very welcome to propose a conference Panel with Papers. By designing a Panel, you create an opportunity to connect with a community of methods users from around the world who share your methodological interest. Panel proposals must include at least three Papers and one chair. The Panel chair must participate in-person in the Conference.

Call for Participatory Sessions (90’)
An interactive session with active audience involvement.
Submit your concept for a participatory session so that you may benefit from the active participation and feedback of methods developers, methods pedagogues and methods users in a more open-ended format. This can be particularly helpful for researchers seeking to disseminate new and innovative methodological approaches. Participatory sessions can take varied forms, including open discussions about the pitfalls of research co-production, hands-on introductions to game-based and art-based data collection methods, Panel discussions about the reconciliation of methods across different academic disciplines, open debates about methods teaching and pedagogy issues, and many more.
The chair(s) can structure the sessions as they see fit. Typically, the sessions will have moments of plenary discussions, moments of active participation by session attendees, and moments of presentation and moderation by the chair(s).

Call for Short Training Sessions
A session to learn a specific skill or tool.
We are excited to announce proposal invitations for short training sessions (90’) by method experts and expert practitioners, at all levels of seniority, in the format of a short training workshop. These sessions aim to introduce, provide background, and set the stage for sharing expertise on key methods, methodologies, tools and frameworks on different types of research methods across human sciences, Artificial intelligence and their intersections. Experts working with innovative methods, or widely used research techniques are encouraged to propose a training session that will engage, educate, and equip researchers with newer tools and methodologies across disciplines. They should be designed for broad accessibility, focusing on essential concepts leading to actionable takeaways.

Call for Demonstration Sessions
A live showcase of a tool or method.
Researchers and practitioners, at all levels of seniority, working with a specific research method and eager to share its latest advancements in action are encouraged to submit their proposals for a demonstration session (90’). It may cover a specific method development, a novel method approach, methodology or use of tools assisting with innovative methods. In-house software as a novel tool or customization/advancement of existing tools to tackle specific research challenges are also encouraged to reach their target audience through this session format.

Call for Methods Labs
A hands-on session to practice research methods.
We invite proposals for Methods lab sessions [90’ or 2 consecutive 90’ slots] that encourage active participation, hands-on exploration, and collaborative learning. These sessions are moderated by the expert (researcher or practitioner) where the participants have the opportunity to perform the set tasks interactively and collaboratively. Submit your proposal to create an immersive experience that inspires and empowers participants!
