Our approach to membership
We have opted for individual membership – because indeed MethodsNET is a globally operating ‘triple network’ connecting individuals.
Our membership fee structure is designed to ensure accessibility for all. We offer significantly reduced fees for individuals with fewer financial resources and affordable rates for students (including PhD students), with opportunities for free membership in specific regions.
We believe in providing maximum value for your membership fee.
As a not-for-profit, service-driven organization, we guarantee that your contributions directly support the development of accessible and impactful resources for the MethodsNET community.

Accessible membership fees ensure affordability for those with limited resources, offering students symbolic or free access in certain regions.
Our whole approach to fees is that you get the most of your fee in terms of concrete, tangible benefits – for instance: the highest 2026 yearly fee for a student (49€) gives access to a ca. 150€ discount for the Summer School registration.
And last but not least: we are fully service-driven and not-for-profit – so: we guarantee that your fee will be fully invested in developing broadly accessible services, to you and to your peers.

4 MEMBER TYPES
Just answer the simple following questions and you’ll know what your membership type is:

If you have 7+ years of post-PhD experience or are over 40 years old you qualify as a Senior Expert Member.

If you have less than 7 years post-PhD experience or are under 40 years old you qualify as an Early Career Expert Member.

The membership fee scheme is simple, and so is the process to join. For the two “Expert” membership types, there’s a quick two-step process (starting with a validation of your expert status). For “Standard” and “Student” memberships, it’s just a one-step process.

FAQ
I would like to join as a member but I am not entirely sure of the category I fit in, or to which categories I have access in principle. How can I get a clarification?
Simply send your question to info@methodsnet.org and we will address your query. Please provide precise information.
Can I attend an event without a membership?
Yes, you can attend any event as a non-member for a free of €220 for each event.
I hold a management or leadership position of a university unit (e.g. Department, School, Research centre, Institute, Graduate School, …). Can a group membership arrangement be made for the members of my university unit?
No, as MethodsNET has opted for individual membership. Individual members of your unit may therefore join MethodsNET, following respective membership types dependent upon their profiles. You may also join individually either as an expert member (if applicable) or as a standard member. Besides these membership aspects, if your unit organizes a methods-related event or activity, you may partner up as a MethodsNET partner institution (MoU-based arrangement).
I think I meet the criteria to join as an early career expert member, but technically I am still a student (I am close to completing my PhD). Should I join MethodsNET as an early career expert member or as a student member?
Up to you. You may choose to join as a student member (much lower membership fee), but you will not benefit from the further benefits of an early career expert member (e.g. your expertise being showcased, access to expert-only brown bag sessions, etc.).
I have some funds available and I would like to support MethodsNET. What are my options?
You have two main options: either pay for a lifetime membership (2000€ as a Senior Expert member, or 1600€ as a Standard member), or alternatively get in touch with us at info@methodsnet.org to discuss modalities for a donation.
